Hello everyone, I am away this week but at the beginning of the week I left you an essay to finish. If you would like me to read it and give you some feedback, please share it with me (make sure you send an email too).

Goldilocks & the three bears

If you are unfamiliar with the story of "Goldilocks & the Three Bears", check it out! Here is an old English version that doesn't talk about a little girl, but instead an old lady.  Here's a version with Goldilocks. 

These last versions both have a twist!

Introductory Paragraphs

Writing a good introduction helps the writer make a good first impression, and in order to do so it is important that an introductory paragraph has THREE elements: hook, transition, and thesis statement. The thesis statement in turn needs to have THREE elements as well: subject, claim, and support. 

HOMEWORK: 
Finish off you introductory paragraphs and paste them into the google doc. 

Reading Practice: Crows & Intelligence

Do you know any bird brains? Why do we use that phrase? Today in class we looked at the intelligence of birds with crows in mind. 

For homework: 

• answer the questions that go with with reading and be prepared to discuss them in class.

Prepare a mini presentation about the bar graph that you chose for yesterday's homework.

Describing Trends - Bar Graphs

Homework today is look for two graphs, either bar or line and paste them in the slides. Remember to not erase/ delete or use a graph that someone else has already placed there.

Academic Word List & Exemplification Paragraphs

Today in class we started to look at a part of the ACADEMIC WORD LIST. It's important to recognize these words because they appear in many different academic texts, so it is helpful to know them and their different forms. 

For HOMEWORK: 
1) familiarize yourself with  the words we looked at in class - we'll work with them more in class tomorrow. 
2) finish your paragraph.
