We have reached the final two steps of essay writing, for homework I would like you to revise and edit the essay that you wrote on the weekend. Look for specific things such as 

• thesis statement - Does my essay have one? 
• paragraph organization - Do all my paragraphs have ONE main idea? A topic sentence? A quote? 
• grammar - verb tense/ agreement?
• punctuation - periods, commas, semicolons?

Finish your essay for Monday. It should be at least 5 paragraphs long and have 3 different citations (quotes) that come from the reading sources about the rainforest.

Tomorrow in class you will be writing a 5 paragraph essay about: The short term gains from the destruction of the rain forests cannot justify the irrecoverable losses we will face in the future.
So you must have your outline finished and the 3 readings done, remember to take notes and highlight different sections to make it easier to find the information at a later date. 

You need to include at least one external source quote into each paragraph.

• Choose two of the 5 topics and do TWO of the different prewriting techniques that we haven't done yet: make a list, ask questions or draw. You can do these either on your computer or on paper, I'll look at them tomorrow. 

2 Paragraphs

Write two paragraphs using the topic sentences and paragraph outlines that you worked with last week. Share with me when you have finished.
